Many beloved celebrities who have impacted pop culture have left us way too soon. In fact, the amount of celebrities who have passed away at age 27 has led to what is known today as the 27 Club. This list includes the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain, to name a few. But have you ever wondered what these people might have looked like if they were still alive? Artists have created the following images using CGI technology to show what celebrities who passed away way too young may have looked like if they were still alive today. The results are absolutely breathtaking.
Elvis Presley
There’s no denying that Elvis Presley was the man everyone wanted to either be or be with. By the time he approached the end of his life in 1977, the “Jailhouse Rock” crooner was a shadow of his former self. If Elvis was still alive today, he would have been 83 years old.
Based on the work done by Sachs Media, he would have looked pretty good for his age! Sure, there would have been a few more wrinkles, but at least the King would’ve kept a full head of hair.
Jimi Hendrix
Jimi Hendrix is one of the members of the 27 Club who was taken from us way too soon. One of the greatest guitarists to have ever lived, many wonder how Hendrix’s life would have played out had he not died at such a young age.
Sachs Media created this image of an “older” Hendrix, still sporting an afro, albeit smaller, and the same iconic goatee. If Jimi Hendrix was still alive today he would be 76 years old and would look remarkably good for his age.
Janis Joplin
With many comparing her to Jimi Hendrix as she was around during the same time and the fact that they are both part of the 27 Club, Janis Joplin was the architect of her own destruction.
Considered to be the first female rock star, “Pearl,” as she was also known, seemed to always have a big smile on her face, which might be connected to her hedonistic lifestyle. If Joplin was still alive today, she would’ve been 76, and her long locks would’ve turned grey.
Bobby Darin
Not only did Bobby Darin have an incredible voice, but he also played many instruments. He lived his life to the fullest, especially since the rheumatic fever he contracted affected his life expectancy considerably. If Darin was still alive today, he would have been 82 years old and based on this Sachs Media image, he still would’ve been fairly handsome.
His fashion sense would have remained impeccable, and he would have looked good with white hair and a couple of wrinkles.
Jim Morrison
Another member of the 27 Club, it’s crazy to think that Jim Morrison would have been 76 years old if he was still alive today. The Doors frontman’s life came to a tragic end when he gained a lot of weight and was hooked on a variety of substances.
However, had he stayed alive until this very day, Morrison probably would’ve aged well, retained his long locks and based on this photo, he may have started to smile a bit in his old age.
Mama Cass
While the Mamas and the Papas were by no means angels, they were a band that was at the peak of their powers during the “flower children” era. One of the most iconic figures in the band was “Mama” Cass Elliot, who had an incredible voice.
Sadly though, the singer died at a young age after suffering from years of substance abuse and radical weight fluctuation. If Mama Cass was still alive today she would have been 78 years old.
Keith Moon
Widely regarded as one of the greatest drummers to have ever lived, Keith Moon was only 32 years old when he lost his life. Had he made better decisions around this time in his life, The Who drummer may have still been alive today.
He would’ve been 72 years old. Based on this image made by Sachs Media, Moon wouldn’t have changed too much over the last few decades. He still would’ve had a full head hair and those bushy eyebrows.
Dennis Wilson
There is no denying that Dennis Wilson was a good looking man and had he been alive today, he would’ve been a handsome 74-year-old. Having founded the Beach Boys with his brothers, Dennis was a talented drummer and backup singer and had an infamous friendship with Charles Manson.
He died under tragic circumstances, drowning in a lake while retrieving some of his possessions. If Wilson was still alive, he may have ditched his iconic beard and still had those stunning blue eyes.
Karen Carpenter
It’s hard to find a celebrity on this list with a more tragic end than Karen Carpenter. Despite having one of the most iconic voices in all of pop music, Karen’s eating disorder had a severe effect on her health and appearance, before eventually claiming her life at the age of 32.
Had she managed to overcome this, The Carpenters lead singer would’ve been 69 years old today. This image from Sachs Media shows an older Karen with a fuller face and her ever radiant smile.
Bob Marley
Without a shadow of a doubt, Bob Marley is the most iconic figure in all of Reggae music and culture. Although he was a fairly healthy individual, Marley died after having cancer of the brain, lungs and liver. If he was still alive today, the reggae star would have been 74 years old.
Sachs Media firmly believes that he still would’ve held onto his iconic dreadlocks, despite them going blondish grey. Otherwise, the music legend wouldn’t have looked too different.
Kurt Cobain
Anyone who is a fan of Nirvana probably knows how Kurt Cobain took his own life. He was a troubled man who, at the peak of his grunge powers, joined the 27 Club. While he has nearly been dead for as long as he was alive, the “Smells Like Teen Spirit” singer would have been 52 in 2019.
And it turns out that had his life gone a bit differently, he actually would’ve looked pretty similar, long blond hair and goatee included.
Marilyn Monroe
Many fans and critics alive firmly believe that Marilyn Monroe was one of, if not the most beautiful actress in Hollywood history. After she starred in movies such as Some Like it Hot, Monroe died from substance complications at the age of 36.
It appears that she would have sported a similar hairstyle to the one she had all those years ago. For a 93-year-old woman, it is safe to say that Marilyn Monroe would have aged considerably well!
John Lennon
Unlike many of the celebrities on this list who were partly responsible for their own deaths, John Lennon was taken away from us way too soon at the hands of an obsessed fan. For a man who was at the forefront of promoting peace and positivity, his untimely passing certainly wasn’t without a sharp twist of irony.
Had he not been killed back in 1980, there’s a good chance that The Beatles legend would still be with us today and he probably would’ve aged fairly gracefully.
River Phoenix
While Joaquin Phoenix has gone on to become one of the most respected actors of the last few decades, his brother River left this world at the young age of 23. With roles in movies such as Stand by Me and Explorers, there is no telling what the young actor could have achieved later on in life.
Based on this image, it seems like River’s blonde locks would have turned brown and he would have grown into a handsome looking middle-aged man.
Princess Diana
Without a shadow of a doubt, Princess Diana’s passing was one of the most mourned celebrity deaths of all time. After dying in a car crash, the royal figure’s funeral was broadcasted around the world and millions of people were distraught by the news of her death.
Had she been more fortunate, the mother of Princes William and Harry may have still been alive today. Moreover, it appears that Diana wouldn’t have changed that much in terms of appearance.
Tupac Shakur
Sadly, Tupac Shakur didn’t even live long enough to make the 27 Club and at 25 years of age, the rap legend was killed in Las Vegas. Despite this, Tupac managed to achieve so much in his short life, releasing numerous successful albums and hit singles.
Had the late rapper managed to prevent getting into so many confrontations, there is a chance that he might’ve still been alive today. However, artists believe that Tupac would’ve aged considerably in just 23 years.
John Candy
While he lived longer than a lot of celebrities on this list, there is no denying that John Candy left this world way too soon. Having starred in numerous hit films such as Cool Runnings and Planes, Trains and Automobiles, the actor ended up dying from a heart attack when he was just 43 years old.
If he was still alive today, Candy would have been 69 years old and other than his hair turning white, Candy would’ve retained a reasonably youthful complexion.
Sid Vicious
One of the youngest celebrity deaths on this list involved The Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious. A legend in the punk rock scene, John Simon Ritchie developed an infamous relationship with Nancy Spungen. After the latter died in her bathtub, the former died from substance usage just two months later.
If Vicious had made better decisions at such a young age, he may have still been alive today. Specifically, he would’ve been 62 years old and he wouldn’t have changed too much.
Buddy Holly
Iconic because of the suit and glasses, Buddy Holly was an incredibly influential figure in rock music, paving the way for the likes of Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. The young man achieved so much before dying in a plane crash at just 22 years of age.
Seeing that he smoked a lot, it’s not too surprising that Holly may have lost some hair and gotten some discolored teeth had he stayed alive until the present day. He would have been 83 years old.
Freddie Mercury
Freddie Mercury and his band Queen’s influence on rock music is undeniable. And although the band still perform until this very day, fans wonder what would’ve been had things gone a little different for the man also known as Farroukh Bulsara.
Just a day before his passing, 45-year-old Mercury revealed to the world that he had contracted AIDS after being diagnosed in 1987. Had things gone differently, the “We Will Rock You” singer may have ended up looking like this.
Randy Rhoads
Randy Rhoads is widely regarded as one of the greatest guitarists of his time. Having worked alongside the likes of Ozzy Osbourne and Quiet Riot, the musician’s career and life were cut short under tragic circumstances.
While on his way to perform in Florida, Rhoads and a friend decided to go on a joy ride in a borrowed plane, which ended up going up in flames. If Randy Rhoads was still alive today he would have been 63 years old.
Notorious B.I.G.
Just a few months after Tupac Shakur was killed in Las Vegas, his East Coast rival The Notorious B.I.G. also shared a similar fate. Despite also being incredibly successful, Biggie Smalls ended up losing his life when he was just 24 years of age.
It’s amazing to think that nearly double the amount of time has passed since he died, meaning that Biggie would’ve been 47 years old if he was still alive today. It’s safe to say that B.I.G. would’ve aged gracefully.
Ronnie Van Zant
Another rock star who ended up dying in a plane crash was Ronnie Van Zant. The singer of hits such as “Sweet Home Alabama” predicted that he wouldn’t make it to 30 and he ended up being right – just about.
The rock star was determined to arrive at his next concert in time and although there was an engine malfunction, he flew anyway. The plane ended up crashing in the bayou in Gillsberg, Mississippi and Van Zant died instantly. He would’ve been 71 if he was still alive.
Bruce Lee
Seeing that Bruce Lee was known for performing a lot of his own stunts, the Enter the Dragon star was always dicing with death while on set. It turns out though that Lee would die from cerebral oedema.
Had he still been alive today, there is a good chance that 79-year-old Lee may have taken on the role of an elderly master in some of his movies. As a result, makeup artists might have made him look completely unrecognizable.
Duane Allman
While the Allman Brothers Band might not be as famous as The Beatles or The Rolling Stones, they certainly had a big following in their own right. Before his untimely passing, Duane Allman was responsible for songs such as “Ramblin’ Man” and “Midnight Rider,” to name a few.
In 1971, the 24-year-old’s life was cut short when he collided with a truck while riding a Harley Davidson. If Allman was still alive in 2019 he would have been 73 years old.
